Some rich Senator (Douglas?) owns the land on both sides, near the mouth of the Salmon river in upstate NY. It is probably the best place to fish those kings on the whole river. So he charges to park, and walk down to fish the holes on his property. We have some similar deals here, but usually it's just a buck or so to park or launch your driftboat. There are also many public access areas to the Salmon river as well, alot more than we have here, and enforcement is SO much better there also. But remember, there are only really 2 rivers there (Salmon, Oswego) for the WHOLE east coast to fish, so what we think is crowded here, they would think that they have the whole river to themselves.
