Here's another technique to try,

Tie on a 1/8oz. black marabou jig, no float, just the jig. Cast slightly upstream, and SLOWLY twitch retrieve, like you were fishing for bass. Look for backwater areas that fish are rolling in. This tech has turned some fishless days into multiple fish days for me on more than one occasion.
