McSteely,

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but the best and cheapest source I ever happened upon was in a couple of back eddys a few miles downstream of an extremely popular fishing area on the Cowlitz River. I figure they must be the best ones, cuz that's what the fishermen were using and losing! Unfortunately, the flood of '96 wiped out those eddys, and I just find a bobber here and there any more. As a fly fisher, I don't have much use for them, but I keep thinking I might use some of the small size corkies for strike indicators when I go trout fishing.

Speaking of "found" tackle, my coho fishing box contains mostly spinners, spoons, and plugs I've picked up (litter patrol) on rivers. I've got an old Dam Quick spinning reel and salmon fishing rod, and my friend has a Shimano spinning reel and GLoomis rod he pulled out of a log jam a few years ago. It's amazing the amount of fishing tackle that is just laying in and around the rivers.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.
