If you have a 5500 or 6500 amb, set up with 12 pound test, you should be good for most fish out here. I use a 6500 with 14 lb for all fish except for those tiny little trout in lakes. A good rod, say medium action, and about 8 1/2 feet long will suffice. This will get you steelhead, and most salmon. I have taken fish up to 35 pounds on similar gear.

I have never used a guide up here, but some of the guys could advise you who to choose. Then ask the guide what to bring/buy for the water you will be fishing.
