I've read several times before that spoons can be worked deeper than spinners and are therefore a better choice for winter/cold water fishing. I've fished them a fair bit this year and have not found this to be true. I seem to be able to get a #5 Mortac spinner down better than the 2/5 oz Mortac spoon and 1/2 oz. Steelie I've been using. One advantage I've noted with the spoons is distance....I can cast them 10-20 feet farther than the spinners. Anyone else got an opinion?
