Seacat, I too grew up out there, just off Fox Is. I remember those days of year round fishing. As far as catching a resident PS coho when was the last time you did that? I can't remember the last one that I caught. I too used to be able to catch them year round. I've been hitting Pt. Gibson a few times recently and there are a few fish out there, nothing worth targeting though.
The point of my previous post was to point out that there are other options for someone that was wanting to fish off the claybanks, I took it as he was going to fish off the beach.
I for one am not going to get all excited about a closure that may benefit a native stock in need of protection. This is going to become the normal situation in the future as more and more stocks decline. So I decided to expand my fishing to include other fish that I hadn't targeted in previous years to fill the time until the July opener.
There are too many other great fishing opportunities right now than working all day for the hope of one or two fish.
As far as comparing the fishing now to what it was when we were kids fishing with our dads, well that was then and this is now......
