Once we got to the middle section it wasn't bad.

I remembered something after posting that last night. About 15 years ago I called the state about this exact thing.
I was a kid and there was a small creek down the road from my dad's house, had rainbows and dollies in it. There was a SWEET hole on it but it was in the middle of a field of some not so nice land-owners. About 1/4 mile downstream there was a gravel road owned by the county. What the state told me was that if I entered the creek off this road and waded up I'd be fine. Couldn't step out of the water but was fine in the water.
They said because the creek held gamefish it was property of the state and so was the land under it. Landowners don't own the land under water. Thats why people that live on rivers gain and lose land as the river shifts to different sides of the valley.
I think thats why this guy wasn't so happy. There was a river probly 50 yards from the creek and it had eaten up about 20 acres of his land. couldn't have happened to a nice guy either
