Hey Berkeley boy, those rods by lami you're talking about I do believe are Canadian float rods. Should have almost a spey rod butt look. Made for using Centerpins. If it's the one I think you're talking about.

I'd highly suggest going the 2 rod route. I've done the one rod scenerio. Only rod I've ever known to truly handle the range you need are the old Fenwick glass rods. Rated from 8-20# test on one blank. I used to have two reels set up, one with 12# for steelies and one with 20# for kings. Those old 85c's were damned good rods. But not in length you're looking for though. Good luck, hope you find what you're looking for.
