The rogue
There are two kinds of people fishing for fall chinook on the Washougal
1. snaggers
2. people who don't know enough to know the difference
the latter i have sympathy for as they are wasting their time and money for nothing.
the tules once they enter the washougal river will not bite even properly presented baits. I lived on the banks of the river for 15 years and fished for them every year for many many hours and never caught one using any proper method. eggs drifted, eggs under a bobber, spoons , spinners, sand shrimp, plugs, jigs, flies.. you name it i tried it.
I don't care if there iis a hatchery there just saying that what they produce provides nothing for legit fisheries and promotes disgusting behavior in an ill legeitiment fishery..
trouter: i stick with what I know i figure snagging occurs there but i don't know that thats all that happens
duroboat: I have turned in snaggers more times than i care to count it's been my experience that nothing ever happens. heck one time i turned in a guy for shooting a deer out of season while shooting from the washougal river road and nothing came of that.
No one fishes the washougal using legit techniques. I just think that a lot of money is being spent to knowingly support an all snagg fishery and i think that is wrong.
