Very unfortunate!!! And this is only one side of the story, but:

1) Read the fine print of any contract. If you can, retain a lawyer, and use him/her whenever major purchases are considered. If you are not satisfied, you either request them to change the wording to your and/or your lawyers liking or, go somewhere else.

IF the story is true, I would stay away from Bayliner Corp. products. It wasn't just the dealership that was rude, dishonest and kaniving, it was the Corporate representative also.

Have others had bad experiences with Bayliner, or any other boatbuilder?

It's like some inexpensive auto insurances; the rate is great compared to others... until you try to file a claim. (from personal experience)! Then all he** breaks loose.

Another thought: Buy insurance as soon as you purchase. If homeowners ins. doesn't cover the vehicle while at home, then get insurance that does. And make sure coverage starts at the time of your call, not after you have made the payment.

In this case, if the people had insurance right away, they could call the insurance co. and have them deal with the boat dealer/manufacturer. They probably would have had a new boat in a timely manner also.

Even though I only have $4000-$5000 worth of boat/equipment, I carry insurance to cover my rear-end no matter what! My family is woth it!

Good luck out there!
