I really can't learn to like fishing with a spinning reel. That's why I jig fish with the 10 1/2 foot Dave Vedder Lamiglas rod rated for 8-12 pound line. The Herzog rod is fine too.

I do think that nothing is as good for fishing low clear water as a spinnning reel a Thill Turbomaster #3 float and an 1/8 ounce jig with no added weight.

But, if you want to keep away from the spinning reel the 10 1/2 foot Lamis are great.
