I have not fished rags much but in the limited time I used them I managed to hook a few fish.

IMO I would always put scent on them just like you would a corkie and yarn.

I managed to take a few Silvers by fishing them with eggs on as well. The water was high and murky and they could not resist that big rag and eggs
