If anyone on this Site is in the Market for a GMC truck, Steer clear of Cornforth Campbell GMC in Puyallup.

Heres what happened, I Inked out a deal on a new 06' fully loaded Duramax. I had a price: Written quote for their Truck, and a Written Price Quote for my trade in my hands when i left to go home and sleep on it.

This is when it gets ugly.

I go in there a day later, and coincidentally the salesman and the Sales manager that I had worked with were off. So I was talking to different people. I told them that I was ready to make the purchase and that I had a written quote from the day prior. To make a long story short, the sales manager that was working didnt like what he saw on the Written Offer that I had. He proceeded to tell me that they were not going to be able to give me what I had previously been quoted for my Truck as trade. We're not talking a few dollars less either. He Dropped $2500 on what they had previously put in writing as to what they would give me. He said since I was getting such a great deal on the Duramax that they couldnt give me the higher price for my trade.

I about fell over when he laid this news on me. I sat silent in disbelief that a Dealer would not honor a WRITTEN QUOTE from the day before. I told him I thought that was pretty shady, and it showed me a huge lack of integrity on the part of the dealership. His reply was only, that "it is what it is".

The owner or anyone above his head was no where's to be found, so I left stunned that a dealership that touts itself as being a 5 Star dealership would allow a customer to walk out the door and not stand behind their own written word. Even now 3 days later as Im writing this post, im in shock over what happened there.

So my salesman calls me the next day, completely oblivious to what had happened the day prior. I tell him what happened and he too is stunned and said he would go talk to the Owner Dave Campbell and see what he could do for me. He called me later on and said that the owner was willing to up my trade by $500, which was now $2000 less than the original quote. And further stated that that was the best he could do....... Here I was again in that, WOW is this seriously happening stooper. So now the actual owner of the dealership wont honor an actual written deal that one of his sales managers worked up for me.... Talk about lack of Integrity..

I guess this is why so many of us hate to deal with Car dealerships. Some of them Are SHHHAADYY, and I think this one is at the top of the pack. I have made several new car purchases, and never before have i seen where a dealership wont stand behind their own quote's....

So, Please consider shopping elsewhere as this dealership probrably carries this attitude over into all aspects of their operation besides just sales. You wont be able to hold them to their word on anything that goes on there, from sales to service. It seems they are not of the type that strives to make it "right" with the customer.

Im getting the word out, so hopefully none of you will have a similar situation at this shady dealership. There are plenty of other dealers out there that value their customers, and are above board in their business practices.

Feel free to PM or e-mail me for the longer version of this story. It truely is a terrible thing when the managment/ownership team at a prominent business like this has no integrity.

For me the story does have a happy ending. I have made a purchase of said truck from Rotters' GMC in Olympia and my experience has been 100% the opposite with them. They have treated me like a king, and have gone way beyond in getting me the exact truck I wanted, by doing a dealer trade and helping me with the logistics of getting some stuff added to the truck for me. Truely, Rotter's Is a dealership that values their customers. I got an outstanding price, and a very fair price for my trade. I'll be picking it up Monday, then probrably shortly there after to Les Schwab for some Wheels/tires
