I recant from my original post about this not being relevant. I still believe it is looking at the issue of Islam in Europe through a microscope and making a diagnosis. However, it is an issue every person at some point or another is going to need to grapple with. How do we deal with fundamentalists in religion? We really have turned our backs on the issue over the years including within our own borders.

We have all been witness to the fundamentalist hysteria both Christian and Islamic. As an agnostic I find it concerning. In my mind it only reinforces how imperative it is to keep the separation of Church and State! If that were true the concern then becomes how does the State deal with the radicals without completely disenfranchising them?

It is a complex issue that cannot be dealt with by force nor can it continue to be ignored. I trust when we look through the microscope at other countries successes and failures we consider the bigger picture. I also suggest we do the same with our own politics...
