I have just started to tinker with making my own jigs. and now I'm trying to catch fish with them, a whole nother story.

I hope I can keep this short...Here is the basic list that I think you'll need, anyone out there see something I'm missing please add on.

Jig heads w/hook (various colors and sizes/weights)

Marabou and Flashabou, rabbit fur, the choices are almost endless

Fly tying vise with the spindles/scissors and what not that come with most beginner sets.

The stretchy fly tying thread.

Head cement. Large size needle.

With my set I bought it came with a book that shows a couple basic knots that you'll need to keep it together.

Place the hook in the vise and get your thread on the holder and start layin down the marabou and tying to secure it in place. When your happy with the look, use some head cement dribbled down a large needle onto the thread to finish it off.

Those are the basics and there are a lot of unique things you can do with those materials.

Checking out the instruction book saved me a lot of time and the 3rd or so jig I made was useable laugh

I got all my stuff and some great help at Ted's in Lynnwood.
