When we were in the Bass Straights I remember walking forward from the mess decks and taking two steps on the deck, two on the port bulkhead, two more on the deck and two on the stbrd bulkhead, repeat 'till you get to forward berthing. Of course it was a short walk. We had that damn sonar dome too. If it came out of the water it would slam us side to side probably 2 feet at the bow as it would go back down. Check out the '88 south pac cruise book. That was my first deployment. Could not have dreamed of anything better....
