Hey I think you're on to something...The blackmouth that do grow a little bigger than average do get stuck in the Chum nets, however. Just how big that impact is will probably never be known outside the gill netters fraternity. Fortunately the average blackmouth is probably churning up the sand with his head looking for sand lances so he is safe from thegill nets...but not from the darts and mooched herring.
