That's a very good point. I simply don't know the answer, at least a socially acceptable one. I pick up a bit from time to time, but it seems pretty hopeless. River trash keeps pace with the increasing number of anglers. I see fishermen who claim not to litter dropping stuff on gravel bars and trails. I mention it to them, pick it up, hand it to them, they mumble, and I know they'll do it again because it's their habit. I think it comes down to the human species not having the manners of a cat. Anglers are their own worst enemy. I often mention to friends that the problem with hunters and fishermen is that it's the 80% of clods that are making the remaining 20% look bad.
