With the excitement that comes with winter steelheading, I've learned not to count my steelhead before they hatch. With a disappointing return of hatchery fish in many western wa rivers last winter, what are the odds that this years return is going to be any better? Sure, I caught several fish during last years crummy return, But my results from last winter paled in comparison to 2001-2002. Do returns like this go in cycles?
Lastly, to Cowlitzfisherman:
Is the early boom of steelies on the Cow a done deal. I remember the information you posted last year pertaining to changing the run timing but is that what we can expect from here on out. Hopefully years like 2001-2002 aren't gone forever..
