FF..Here is another perspective

We have been in the "growing" mode for a year and a half. It is so tough to raise money to do any good. We have the food and drink but rarely make anything on that. Most of the attendees at the meetings treat the service we provide to make the meetings more enjoyable as our "obligation" as if it were a hotel or restaurant. Just the way it is. We have the raffle which is our chief fund raising devise next to our annual salmon derby. At the last meeting where we gave away another Scotty electric downrigger we had alot of people who were only there for that raffle and some were real impatient for the raffle to be held and really didn't care about anything else. Same at every meeting. We are there to have fun but we must raise money. It has taken us a long time to raise enough money to be able to donate it to good causes. In the process of having this raffle and the format of the meetings preceeding we sacrifice personal time with the members. We sacrifice time to do what you suggest which we definitely want to do. I try and succeed most often to keep things on track and on time. There is not enough I can say about the comfort level that a cash cushion provides. We are almost there.

Think about it for a second. About 6 or 7 of us do it all. We mention the board meetings at every meeting and put the info on our website but for the most part people tune us out. In your case I would recommend finding me at the next meeting and we'll discuss your ideas. I would love to see you move up to the board and help us make a difference.

See you on the 13th
