I've been using this side anchor set up on my DB for tooooo many years already. Nothing was available commercially back when so I rolled my own using some high end Schaffer sailing hardware. Works just as good as the day i bought it too. One of the things I really like is the cleat. Hope i can adequately describe how slick it works. It not only opens very wide but it closes tighter with more pull exerted. Also, I can lift up and relock quickly and all without looking because the retainer alllows me to simply drop my palm to resecure. I have never lost a line with this method, but I have lost a few with the type you are showing. Hope this helps. Happy drifting.
