Come on Salmo... You were saying he would be a good soldier because he doesn't question things on his own and just follows his faith\patriotism blindly - or with little questioning and analysis. I saw no point in your comments other than to try and undermine the man and his actions. If you disagree, what then was your point?
Why do I think he is a hero?
1) He found a way to serve his country and his family instead of using "hard times" as an excuse to leech off of govt programs...
2) He demonstrated a strong work ethic
3) He demonstrated a strong commitment to his country
4) He demonstrated a strong commitment to his God
5) He demonstrated a strong commitment to his family
6) He demonstrated good leadership in a time of panic and crisis
7) He demonstrated a will to fight and survive
8) He demonstrated bravery under life threatening circumstances including being seriously wounded, mobbed and robbed, and threatened many times
9) He demonstrated the values of Duty and Honor
10) He demonstrated humility and self restraint instead of using all the media attention for personal or political gain. No soap boxing.
11) He is willing to at least conisider going back
12) He didn't play the blame game. He didn't pull the 'victom' card. He didn't threaten to sue the military, his sub contract company or Halliburton, or even the adminstration.
In a world with few heros to root for now days, Mr. Hamill gets my nomination...
