First off you have to go way back before there were Christians to understand the nature of the conflict and the reasons the Whabbis have included the destruction of Isreal in their list of demands. Then you will see that the nature of the conflict is a family squabble. You will also see acheologic evidence that lays the ground work for equal claim to both the Jews and "Palestinians". I put Palestianians in quotes because at the bigining and well into the disagreement over the lands the people that would form "Palestine" were a nomadic people residing mostly in what is now Jordan.
4000 years of battles have left landmarks claimed by both sides to represent their religions. This makes sense at it all started 4000 years ago as a dispute between two brothers over the promise that god made to their father. So the historical record over who has rights tot he land is a wash. Now fast forward to post WWII. The boundaries of the Ottoman empire are shruken to their smallest size in almost 4000 years. The Allies support and help create a Zionist state of Isreal. The battle starts anew as Islam feels that the powers of the world are siding with Jews on the religous issue and fear a powerful Jewish state in the ME. Which is partially true as the Christian dominated pwers realize that the bible speaks directly of the roles of the Jews in biblical prophecy. This Zionist move was supported by the US not out of racisim but out of the Christian belief in the prophecy of revelation. So the stage is set for today. The Whabbis have been pushing from behind the scenes for 60 years to remove Christian influence from the region in order to reestablish the Islamic claim of the territory based on their interpretation of the promise from God. It would also be racist as that position would include a defacto support of Islam over the jews and Christians vs a postion of they all have an equal claim .
