TK: I do understand the reasons for the electoral college, but I wonder if they are valid today. Why should a vote be worth more in one part of the country than another?
I think that the Electoral College is an archaic institution that needs revamped. Problem is at any given time that would hurt on party or the other so the ones whose ox is getting gored fight it like hell.
As far as everyone voting I think we need to got the other way an have a system where you need to prove at lease a partial grasp of our constitution and history. To become a naturalized citizen you must prove you know a bit of history and understand the constitution. If you are born here all you need to do is show up.

I think it would be nice if in order to vote you could name two of the last five presidents, one of you senators and one of your last three governors. That would eliminate about half the current voters.
