I have the wood one and am thinking of upgrading to the fiberglass one. When I put the harpoon handle in the rod rack in the boat it slams around back and forth hitting the rods while moving. It works fine, but is sloppy in the rod rack. I put foam insulation around the handle where it fits in the rack for now. If I had to do it over I would buy the fiberglass. Then again if you only go out once or twice a year it may not be worth it to some. Its a personal preference.
