Thanks all for the input. I think I'll try the bobber stop idea and see how it works out. I also came up with a new thing I'm going to try as well....leaving a tag end on the hook that is long enough to go back through the sliding jig. The extra friction of having two lines through the jig body might just be enough to keep the hook up tight to the jig body when fishing, and yet would easily slip out when fighting the fish.
