I might not be livin' the dream, but being a professional fishhead ain't a bad gig for a guy who likes to lay a line on the water in his spare time. My job allows - or is that requires - me to stay abreast of most of the fisheries management and biological news that interests me. And the real satisfaction is in working on projects that result in increasing natural salmon and steelhead production even though the regional trends continue downward. Of course, there's an unexplainable gratification in spending energy utilities' money on fish conservation measures too. I like to think of it as helping them do the right thing.
