The Falcons want the signing bonus, but the most they will get is about 3-5mil. They gave him a $30ish mill, signing bonus but transferred it all to a "roster bonus" which means he has to show up for those years. There was only one year left of the roster bonus so he only has to pay the pro-rated portion of it. This has a precedent in the Ashle Lelie (sp) case. The rest of Vick's contract is non-guaranteed (like all NFL contracts) so since he is not on the team he does not get that portion of the money.

I still think Vick will be back in the league after he gets out of jail. Goodell's only "real" issue he can boot him for is the illegal gambling. There is a chance that he goes after that, but the NFLPA will have some say in that, even though they have been quiet for now.
