Wntrrn,
I feel your pain. I just had my second major kidney stone attack last week. I passed one last week and still have a huge one to be dealt with. Six years ago I had three stones. Passed one and had two blasted. The downside was having to pass all the little stones after they are blasted. You decribed it right on the broken glass thing.
I had a shunt put in also. The line on it looked like Maxima UG. When I first looked at it, the damn thing was dragging on the floor. I asked the nurse to shorted up my leader for me. Pissing was very painful.
When I went to have the shunt removed, I asked the doctor if he was going to numb me up. He said sure. Next thing I know he pulls the rip cord. I'm like WTF. Extremely painful. I pissed blood for a number of days.
One other thing about kidney stones. Don't have a major attack on a Saturday night. I spend three hours in the ER before I could get a shot of delodid to put me out of my misery. People use the ER like it is there family doctors office.
Also, percocet sucks for pain relief. When you have stones, get the good stuff. Don't go hunting elephants with a pee shooter, which percocet is.
Good luck,
Brian
