I'm not following this rant very well...are you upset because someone (fastaction) suggested that your wife should have released her fish? Someone who wasn't the focus of your rant?

Attacking Fnp on this, or any other Northwest fishing BBS, isn't going to get you very far. It would be a gross understatement to say he's well liked. I consider him a friend, and am privileged at the opportunities I've had to share water with him.

There is a substantive, although sometimes subtle, difference between challenging someones actions or opinions, and attacking them personally as a "hypocrite". It had done me well to learn that lesson myself, and I believe it would serve you the same.

Seriously, you'd find more support if you had approached this differently. Maybe instead put up a thread titled "Should my wife have let this one go".
It was a bright, beautiful Westport chinook. 95% of the guys I know would have kept it.

If you want to give someone grief, you can give it to me. I already feel guilty for keeping that 40 pound buck last week. It takes practice, a full freezer, and a lot of impulse control to let a legal fish like that go on to spawn. But the caveman in me took over. I turned into the housecat with a 40 pound mouse to drag around and show off. I wouldn't feel so badly, but we've got a lot of salmon in the freezer.
