I was sent this topic by a relative, and auntie I have to disagree with you. He may take things a bit far. It does sound to me like he has made inroads to productive lifestyles. I went on a presentation for a major ( 275 million dollar) public housing construction project that we were thankfully awarded. It is called Hunters Point for those may be familiar with the SF Bay area. In that presentation was an individual who lived in the projects. He announced to the group he was 41 years old never finished high school, nor held a job EVER until 2 years before. He had spent time in Jail for a variety of reasons since the time he was 14. He said it was easy, mostly tv, basketball and weight lifting he made life long friends. He asked me about what I would do as far as accepting and training kids from this tough neighbor hood to avoid what he had experienced. Rambled a bit there for sure, but the sheriff seems to be providing an environment for people to learn responsibilities, learn to work. I think this sheriffs approach might work as it seems nothing else we have does. I wonder what the return rate of his ex prisoners is.... I'm sure one of you smart folks has the time and inclination to figure that out
