I'm certainly no expert when it comes to braid, but have been using it alot this past year. Here are my conclusions. It sure is different, I can say that. Hook sets are right on, diameter is great for reducing drag and the shiats for working with backlashes and tangles. Damn tip wrap, especially in windy conditions, and freezing weather are big downsides for braid also. And the price for braids is, well, pricey. BUT, having said all that, I've found that for use with limber rods, it is a trip! I have a number of rods that I no longer used because they lacked enough backbone to handle mono well. Juiced them up with braid, whole different animal, and now I'm trying out some even lighter rods (oh, man, here we go again).
Just picked up a Lami 8 and half footer with a 8 to 12 lb rating, loaded a new Curado with 20 lb high viz PP and am waiting for the water to give me a chance to try it out. At some point there has to be the perfect line for all fishing circumstances......doesn't there? laugh beer
