50# for me, too. There is better action passed from the flasher/dodger with the stiffer line.

I run my leaders a lot shorter. 16" to 18" behind the flasher/dodger. Lots more action on the hootchie/bucktail. My hook-up ratios went up when I shortened the leader. The fish has to decide if it wants to eat the target or not. With the longer leaders, I was getting hits and releases from the downrigger, but not sticking the fish.

I also run a single, usually 6/0 Siwash, hook. Much easier to release the fish when necessary.

Tie up a short leader and run it alongside the boat and compare the action you get compared to the longer leaders.
