I actually had a scammer call me at the office yesterday. It started out with a man speaking with broken english asking me if I had noticed if the US government grant I was to recieve had been deposited in my account yet. I should of strung him out, but was busy so I just hung up. I wonder though, if this is going to be the new norm now. Just think of the possibilities. "Hello, this is Ron from the US treasury department. We have been having some trouble getting your stimilus check automatically deposited into your account. First, can you verify your Social Security number and mailing address. Ok, now we just need to verify your banking information. Account number and routing number. " They could take it further and ask for a pin number to verify its been posted. Somehow, having someone talking to you can make it feel a lot more plausable.
