I'm sure that everyone here is aware of the recent spinal condition that Tred Barta is battling. After chatting with Tred and his wife Annie tonight, I wholeheartedly believe that the Barta Spirit will mean as much to his continued recovery as modern medicine.
Tred asked me to pass along the following message to the anglers and hunters who have wished him well from "cow town" Pacific Northwest: "I have some upper-body strength, and just drew my 60-pound bow from my hospital bed. I want everyone to have a GREAT weekend, and to appreciate what they have (in life)."
Tred has expressed a desire to join us live on the air this Saturday, in the 6 o'clock hour.
Tentative plans are for him to give as a few of his thoughts around 6:30, so, we're going to run pretty loose for the first hour of the show this week. He wants to "keep the spirits high", and talk a little about the Oregon Tuna Classic. We're going to take him for as long as the nurses allow.
ALSO ON THE SHOW: As part or our continuing "Deadlist Catch" series,
Edgar Hansen of the F/V Northwestern will be LIVE IN STUDIO from 7 to 8 a.m. Fans of the show will recognize him as the deck boss of the Northwestern, and, one of the most popular characters on Discovery's runaway hit show. Got questions about working on the deck of a Bering Sea crabber?
This is your chance. Tune in and give us a call.
Edgar is ready for any and all questions.ALSO: Herzog will deliver his "Kokanee Dissertation". Everyone here probably knows that Zog has gone over the moon for kokanee. I'm just going to hit the "GO" button and get the hell out of the way, because Zog is wound up tighter than a drum about the onset of kokanee season. Techniques, tactics, locations, etc. If you're a koke fiend, you'll want to take notes.
AND: A complete preview of Barkley Sound, Rivers Inlet and the Queen Charlottes with Clay Johnston of Oak Bay Marine Group. Clay was the dude who Herzog and I fished with last summer up in Kano Inlet. EXCELLENT fisherman, and now part of the Oak Bay management team. We'll drop the curtain on some screaming deals being offered by the various Oak Bay properties.
OH, AND ALSO!!!!: The Fightin' Cougs of WSU,
who just won the FLW College Series tournament on Lake Oroville in northern California. I'm not a Coug, but, you have to give credit to these kids, representin' for the great state of WA.
Jim Stahl, J&J Guide Service, live in studio: Co-hosting duties for one of the North Sound's most respected guides.
Tune in to Sportsradio 950 KJR from 6 to 8 a.m. and jump right into the mosh pit.
