Coyotes do make nice jackets but best wait until colder weather when they've pelted up.
As far as cats, it is the pits when a pet cat gets nabbed but since feral cats do more harm to wild birds than a bunch of kids with bb guns, it just a case of losing the good with the bad, IMO.
