There is already another post on this, but please help with this.

North Lake Gissberg Ponds has been deemed a “Kids Only” fishing lake for at least the past five years. Some of the local fishing clubs have donated money to stock this lake for the kids to be able to catch fish without having to compete with adults. This is a family friendly lake. New to this year and without notification to the fishing community, they turned it over to private model Hydro races, kicking the kids off of the lake on the weekends during the best part of the fishing season. This is a private party that will take over the public taxpayers’ lake on 22 weekend days removing the kids. This is in the process of being overturned but we need you to write emails to make sure this does not happen and kids remain fishing on the lake. Kids are the ones that are going to be carrying the political torch for us in the very near future to keep us fishing. This is where it starts. Schools have allowed PETA to come in and tell kids fishing is bad. NOAA is trying to shut down our saltwater fisheries through infiltrated environmental groups, and fishing is getting tougher and tougher to keep doing. Our kids need to learn how to fish so that when it’s their turn to fight for fishing they understand the truth that fishing is not bad. Please write a letter or cut and paste mine from below. It will only take two minutes. Make sure and sign the bottom. This is very important and we need to be cordial but jamb their emails full to let them know this is not OK. PSA Sno-King spent money last year on stocking this lake and we are doing it again this year. Everett Salmon and Steelhead PSA was the one that got it deemed Kids only and has been the one stocking it with other clubs for the most part.

To whom it may concern:

It has come to my attention that the Snohomish County Parks Department made a recent decision to close the North Gissberg Park to fishing so model hydroplane racing can take place there instead. On the Parks Dept web site had this statement:
“Snohomish County Parks has authorized the following Radio Controlled Boat Races on the North Lake for 2010 from 8:00am–5:00pm. All fishing and water activity on the North Lake is closed during scheduled racing.”

The Parks Department web site has a schedule of the hydroplane races on the North Gissberg Lake that shows over 20 dates including most weekends in April and May. This schedule is still on the hydros website, even though it has changed on the Parks Department website.
The North Gissberg Lake has been set up as a sanctuary for families to take their kids fishing. The lake was deemed as a “youth fishing” lake for years. The model hydroplanes have been allowed to race on the South lake in the past while the youth only North Lake has been left alone. The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife stocks the lake with fish as do sporting groups so kids can have a rewarding fishing experience.
I strongly object to the Snohomish County Parks Department’s judgment in proposing to move the model hydroplane racers to the North lake and in the process bar the kids from fishing there for many of the weekends in 2010. I think these noisy model hydroplanes are totally out of place in any park like Twin Lakes and I am certainly strongly opposed to disenfranchising the kids to provide a venue for these races.
I understand you are reconsidering your initial decision and that you are going to keep the hydros on the South Lake. I trust that you will follow through and do the right thing for the kids. Kids are our future and fishing is our American heritage and tradition. Thank you.
Sincerely
