Don't let 'em get to ya' Matt. As they say about so many places, Tenino is a good place to be from. Away from. I escaped in 1967.

1960 population - 960
2009 population - 1,654 Funny, I guessed it hadn't changed but it has. Maybe they annexed Bucoda and Tono. When I was in high school, we drove to Olympia to see stop lights. That was pretty cool.

Northerners (meaning Olympia) called Tenino a depressed area of the south county. I didn't understand because I didn't feel depressed. Turns out they meant economically.

Mean prices in 2009: All housing units: $170,966; Detached houses: $190,167; Townhouses or other attached units: $108,311; Mobile homes: $46,000; Occupied boats, RVs, vans, etc.: $8,750. Mind you, these are for newer units. I had a couple class mates who lived in shacks, converted chicken coops probably, for whom one of those occupied vans down by Scatter Creek would have been a major housing upgrade. The upside is that taxes were low.

Oh, and save the wood!
