It's interesting that deep bodied Chinook, like the one in the pic, seemed to be caught almost exculsively around Kodiak. That suggests this strain of Chinook are feeding in and around the Island. But one would think they could also be caught somewhere near their spawning tribs. But I don't know of any river that gets deep bodied Chinook on a regular basis. The Columbia Rv does get a deep bodied Chinook (tule), but not like that, and certainly not that size. So I'm ruling out Columbia.

The origin of these fish appears to be unknown. One part of me says that more information on this fish would increase it's chances for long term survival. But another part of me hopes that it's origin remains a mystery.
