Daddy
You are pretty much pissing into the wind fishing a food poor lake
in Jan. or Feb.with any flyz. The fish respond to the law of "Conservation of Energy"
That means that if there is little or no food in the water they don't swim
around aimlessly looking for it, burning up stored fat. w/no results to show.
The law holds true for early spring too. It's why trout will often not be
caught trolling till much later in the year than stillfishing.
Like the wine taster who says "drink no wine before its' time" the flyfisherman
sez" fish no flyz before it's time."

And heed the word of the great and all knowing Zen. Don't expect to do well chironomiding on
a deep lake with rapid dropping shore contours.

I'd suggest if you wanna get your Chironomid graduation certificate, you will go
fish Rattlesnake Lake in the area of the stumps in 5' to 10' water in the month
of May.
