Switching brand isn't going to help your situation. Gamis and Owners are both equally balanced hooks. I find other brands that are harder and less likely to bend to be far more brittle. I would rather have a hook that gives some than breaks easier when fishing in and around rocks as you can always move up in wire diameter with bigger hooks and/or adjust rod and line combination to match.

I'm sure you are fishing 2 and 4's down there for a reason, but up here the smallest I go for kings is a 1/0, typically 4/0, even up to 6/0 depending on my bait, plus I don't find "biting" river kings to be hook or leader shy. These sizes in either brand do not bend or break. Another reason for larger hook sizes is leader test, which in my case is rarely less than 20# due to chinook teeth.

If you need to go small, stay with nickel instead of red; they seem harder to me, but you might want to check in with Winterun on this. My opinion's worth what you pay for it, his is golden wink
