I am so gona nock that off. What do you all think about a tube system to better protect the rods. Say 4 or 5 ft of tube with a hook like that lined behind them. SUV side windows, canopy roofs 4 packs for in the boat? Folbe Rod lockers???
A tube system might be good for a boat application where the rods are in harm's way, mounted on the sides.
Overhead is a safe place and I wouldn't want or need a tube there. Although, if it was a fabric lined tube (overhead) you would just need the rubber hook system at the outboard, handle end. The tube would carry the tip end.
For rough roads you could make a short plug of 1-1/2" backer rod or foam pipe insulation and shove it the tip end to tighten up the rod.
That single hook and tube system would also work in a sidewall application.
The big item for me is to be able to stow the rod from the butt end and not deal with the tip end every time.My driver's side bank has medium hooks front and back...I can stow without having to crawl back but it is possible that on a rough road the tip section could work out.
When I do the passenger side I'll use medium at the butt and small at the tip for rough road traveling, but I will have to crawl back to address the small hooks.
Hey Art, are you Chinese ?
