Now that is a well thought out letter, fine effort! The first director I met was Bill Wilkerson who as a newby was a bit of a mystery. Bob Turner I met in NOF prior to becoming Director and was the most focused on harvest. Joe Blume very difficult for staff but very accessible for the local folks in the coastal communities. Bern Shanks, a great guy, but lord his choice of senior staff was just terrible and did him under as it was the running line that many staff sat at their desk with a job description in one hand and union contract in the other. Jeff Koenigs came in at a rather bad time for WDF&W and frankly just seemed to give up at some point.

Phil Anderson, well he has more than his share of challenges. The years of history and ill will ( for whatever the reason ) with the legislature, coupled with the poor economy is going to be just a bitch. Phil, from my perspective, has a real passion to see the agency not just survive but emerge as the leader in natural resources it once was but the jury is out yet as to the question of will he succeed. In Region 6 with the QIN and non treaty commercials is a issue that will dog him as it seems one step forward and two back. Time will tell.
