Hi Guys,

Grass carp stocking is determined by several things. One of the most important being screening. So, as long as screening issues are resolved grass carp could be planted into Swofford Pond.

I do all the private and public permitting for them in southwest Washington. Silver Lake was the very first lake we put them in and the stocking rates have been greatly revised since then.

Grass carp are currently stocked in Lake Sacajawea, Klineline Pond, South Lewis County Park Pond, Silver Lake and just recently were stocked into Battle Ground Lake.

We've had great success in Lake Sacajawea and Klineline and will be monitoring Battle Ground Lake over the next few months.

They can be used successfully and after having worked with them for the last ten years, I think Swofford could benefit from them. The key is not to remove all the vegetation.

There still needs to be cover for the fish and food for waterfowl and habitat for other critters.

Just my two cents...
