I hope I'm not too late.

I have fished my canoe with a 30lb thrust for many years. I would advise that you get one that has variable thrust and not the standard throttle with the preset speeds usually 1 thru 5. I found that even at 1, the slowest, it still moved my canoe too fast-especially for Sockeye. Many times the perfect speed is when you can count the prop reps.

I've always carried two battaries not because one would poop out but mainly to offset the weight and keep the bow down.
