Daiwa Viento and 40 lb PP braid for me, I found the 30 lb too small a diameter & tended to dig in with big fish on. I'll Move the Daiwa up a rod from the 1142 to a Lami 96 JC when targeting bigger fish. Like the Cleardrift floats, great visibility w/ those bright tops. But do run some DNE on occasion.

<< This big boy was on one of Opies GL-2 1082s & some kind of invisa-braid he likes to run. It turned the brute & after a tussle brought em to hand in a respectible amount of time.




Personally I like to run the spinning rod in small water I go w/ XST in 1082 & Stradic 2500, loaded w/ again 40 PP to a small 20 gram Cleardrift.

Works for me.
