Mother Nature hade some help here. There does not seem to be any kind of (RMZ) or any proper kind of buffer of timber or trees above this slide. May there was at one time but not enough. This is a major problem with in all the Peninsula Rivers, specaily the Hoh. The delivery of fine sediments will not help the young salmonids or the eggs in the gravel. They could be choked or burried. By the looks of this, it will be a long term affect on the river and fish. It will bleed mud at every rain fall and will probably continue to erode more deeply into the bank, causing more sluffing. The root retention of the trees are gone.. Look Out when driving south of Forks, for the highway is doing the same. The trees were cut on a steep, ustable bank and the road is sluffing off.
