Stam has nailed it. All I would add is the Ailsa Craig is also a very poor keeper. But it is sweet and every bit as good as the Walla Walla Sweets. When buying onion seeds or plants you need to know which varieties work best here. There are long day varieties, medium day varieties and short day varieties.
