I think it just depends on current speed as to how well this is going to work out for you. I can't imagine it working very well in even medium currents for very long, but I have successfully back-bounced slow pools off of our electric a few times.

Using a bow-mount would be really hard IMO. Maybe not if it was remote controlled so that you could sit in the back of the boat, but I feel like the guy running the motor wants to be right next to the rods to see what is going on.
