Man, did I pick the wrong day to bring the family to Seattle for a ball game. Last week, when I found out Felix was scheduled to pitch, I was pretty psyched. I had decent seats, and I was looking forward to watching the King make a bad team look like a bunch of little leaguers. Imagine my disappointment when I learned that Felix was getting a couple days' extra rest, and I was going to see Erasmo Ramirez instead.

We got to Safeco in the top of the second, just in time to watch Morrison drop the ball that turned into the 3-run double (not blaming Morrison -he made an epic catch later in the game). While I was waiting in line for dogs and drinks, I heard the roar of the crowd in response to Zunino's solo homer, and that restored faith, for all of about five minutes, after which time I heard the collective groan that signaled Odor's grand slam that put the game out of reach before I even got to my seat. There were a couple nice moments in there (Seager's line drive homer in the 9th was as hard as I've seen a baseball hit in person, the bullpen was as advertised (excepting Beimel's rare mistake) and there were some defensive gems turned in. That said, I would have enjoyed it a lot more if the outcome had been in doubt for at least a couple more innings.

Oh, well. Beautiful day in Seattle, and the traffic going home wasn't too bad. Maybe next year....
